In an exciting development for Nepali cricket, star all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee and spinning sensation Sandeep Lamichhane are joining to play in the prestigious Global T20 Canada 2023 tournament.
Montreal Tigers and Surrey Jaguars drafted Airee and Lamichhane in an event held last night.
For Dipendra Singh Airee, this will be his first appearance in a foreign franchise league, marking a significant milestone in his career. Airee has been one of Nepal’s most successful players, becoming the only player to score over 1000 runs in T20 Internationals.
Sandeep Lamichhane, on the other hand, brings his previous experience in GT20 Canada to the tournament. He has represented both Montreal Tigers and Toronto Nationals in the previous editions.
Lamichhane’s Surrey Jaguars team boasts an impressive lineup featuring renowned players such as Alex Hales, Iftikhar Ahmad, Jason Behrendorff, and Liton Das. Similarly, Airee can showcase his skills alongside Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, and Carlos Brathwaite in the Montreal Tigers squad.
The third edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament is scheduled from July 20 to August 6. It will feature six teams competing for the championship at Brampton Sports Park.
It’s worth mentioning that Sompal Kami, another talented cricketer from Nepal, participated in the first edition of the tournament and emerged victorious with the Vancouver Knights. The Winnipeg Hawks claimed the title in the second edition.
While preparing for the World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, Airee and Lamichhane will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage in the highly anticipated Global T20 Canada tournament.
